Four Grove Creek Farm bred horses participated in the first annual Symphony of Horses held at the new multi-purpose arena at the Illinois State fairgrounds on Tuesday evening, August 28, 2001. This event was to raise funds for the new Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library being built in Springfield, The Brunk Museum for the Morgan Horse, and the Springfield Arts Council.

Ten Pasos in total danced to the March of the Torreadors from the opera Carmen performed by the Illinois Symphony Orchestra under a beautiful starry sky. A sounding board was placed in the center of the ring where Multi-Reserve National Champion, Rapido del Paso, ridden by Rick Meyer, and Planque del Juncal ridden by Julio Ortega performed their fino gaits expertly for the crowd of several thousand spectators. Eight other horses and their riders rode around these two, performing choreographed movements to the music.

There were four ladies in beautiful long Spanish dresses--all handmade by Marian Girardi--and four men outfitted in their black show tuxes.
